Thornhill Reds Senior Baseball

Reds upend Bulldogs

The bullpen worked six scoreless innings, and the Reds offense was back at it again, in a 11-4 home win against East York.

Reds starter Dan Lehmkuhl heeded way to the bullpen in the fourth frame, and Mitch Sutton(1-1) worked two scoreless on the way to his first win of the year. Lee Choiniere, Eric Wakeman and Peter Joseph also chipped in with shutout innings, as the Reds improved to 8-3 in GTBL play.

Joe Presutti blasted his first long ball of the season, and finished with a 2-2 night for Thornhill. Gianfranco Morello also had a good nights work, driving in four runs with a couple of hits in three at bats.

The Reds are off until next week when thy are busy with three ball games in league action.


Reds smack Hawks

A fourteen run explosion was just what the doctor ordered for the Thornhill Reds offense, as the bats heated up in a 14-7 home win Wednesday night against Newmarket.

Sean Sutton had a four hit night, driving in five and scoring a pair of runs. Rookie Zach Lampreia also had a big night. The youngster went deep, added two more hits, five RBI, and worked a 1-2-3 inning on the hill.

Chadwick Cameron(1-2) picked up the win in relief of starter Josh Appel, who left after facing two hitters in the fifth.

With the win the Reds improved to 6-1 at home, and 7-3 in GTBL play. Next action is Wednesday July 5, when the East York Bulldogs visit Thornhill at 730pm.


Reds bats quiet in road loss

The Thornhill Reds got a great pitching performance from rookie Mack Major(0-2), but couldn't get the offense going in a 3-1 road loss in East York.

It was a tough loss to swallow for the young righty who fired seven strong innings, striking out seven and allowing just two runs. The Bulldogs did not have a base runner until a fourth inning lead off walk, and their first hit came in the fifth, a single from catcher Ben Anderson.

Gianfranco Morello was the only Red with two hits, and Sean Sutton added a key RBI double in the eighth inning, where Thornhill pulled within one with runners at second and third and just one out. East York's bullpen cleaned up the final five outs of the night, handing the Reds their third loss of the regular season.

The Reds next action is Wednesday at home, where Josh Appel will take the ball against the visiting Newmarket Hawks.


Reds win at home

it was a 9-4 home win for the Reds on Wednesday night against the Pickering Red Sox, helping them improve to 6-2 in GTBL play.

Dan Lehmkuhl(3-0) fired six strong innings for the win, which moves him to the top of the GTBL victories column. Mack Major worked the final three frames for his second save.

Gianfranco Morello and Kravice Batts each had two hits and four RBI to lead the offense. The Reds will be at Talbot Park Friday night to take on the Leaside Leafs, if mother Nature allows.


Vaughan tournament gets washed out

The Reds went 1-1 on the weekend, however the final pool game and Sunday playoffs were cancelled due to rain.

The Reds are back at it Wednesday night at home, when Pickering comes to town for a GTBL matchup at Bishops Cross Park.
