Reds head to Ottawa on winning note

The Thornhill Reds used six arms in a 5-4 home win against the Newmarket Hawks ahead of a weekend trip to Ottawa for Canada Day. Adam Jafine(1-0) worked the final two frames to pick up the win on a go ahead RBI double off the bat of second baseman Jeremiah Groulx who finished with two hits and two driven in.

Zach Lampreia, Mitch Sutton, Ben Brown and Hunter Greenough all chipped in with scoreless appearances in readying for the weekend workload.

Thornhill opens up Friday night against the Capital City Reds, Mack Major will get the ball game one looking to get the boys off to a good start.

Reds bounce back with wild walk off win

The Thornhill Reds fell behind early, trailing 11-4 in the fifth inning against the East York Bulldogs, but the bullpen shut the door the rest of the way allowing the Reds to storm back and win it 12-11.

Russ McGibbon delivered the game winning single, plating two Reds in the three run ninth. Kravice Batts(1-0) worked a scoreless ninth to pick up the win, following Mitch Sutton's scoreless eighth and an impressive two inning performance from Eric Wakeman, all which gave the Reds a chance to win the ball game.

Thornhill is back at it Thursday, when they visit Talbot Park for the first time in 2018 for a date with the Leaside Leafs.

Reds fall in semi final

The Thornhill Reds picked a bad time for perhaps their worst ball game of the year, losing to East York 13-10 in the semi finals of the Fathers Day Classic in Vaughan. The Reds posted ten runs but made a number of physical and mental errors, and just couldn't outhit their mistakes in this one.

The Reds still showed well, going 3-1 on the weekend and at the near halfway point of the season sit at 10-3 overall.

Thornhill has two GTBL tilts lined up this week, Wednesday Zach Lampreia will take the hill at home against East York, and Thursday the Reds visit Talbot Park in Leaside.

Reds 3-0 and move to semis at Vaughan tourney

The Thornhill Reds won all three round robin games, finishing first in their pool and are moving on to the Semi finals of the 2018 Vaughan Fathers Day Classic tournament.

The Reds beat Oakville 7-4, Kendal 11-7, and Erindale 9-4 to receive a bye straight to Sunday, avoiding a Saturday night quarterfinal game. The Reds won the tournament in 2016, and 2017 saw no winner awarded due to weather. Adam Jafine will look to send the Reds to the final as he will take the ball in the morning semi.
